Lying is another thing we should not use our tongue to do because These are the 6 things that the Lord hates:
Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:
A proud look
A lying tongue
Hands that shed innocent blood
A heart that devises wicked imaginations
Feet that are swiftly run to mischief
A false witness that speaks lies
A person who sows discord among brethren. (Proverbs 6:16-19)
Notice that the tongue can be used to do 3 of the things that God hates - sowing strife between people who are living in peace (A person who sows discord among brethren), speaking lies when you are a witness (A false witness that speaks lies) and lying (A lying tongue).
God really hates this lying because He has also included it in the 10 commandment for He tells us, "You shall not bear false witness against you neighbor" (Exodus 20:2-17 and Deuteronomy 5:6-21)
Therefore do not use your tongue to lie because it is an abomination to the Lord.
