A Time to Run: David

As a result of Moses doing the right thing in the wrong season, he ushered himself into a season of running away for he had to flee from Pharaoh and go to the land of Midian. (Exodus 2:15)

Moses is not the only person in the Bible who was in a season of fleeing or going through his "A time to run". David also lived through a season of fleeing from King Saul though in his case it was not through any fault of his.

David's "A time to run" begun when the women sang, "Saul has slain thousands and David has slain ten thousands." (1 Samuel 18:7) When King Saul heard them singing this song he became very angry and started trying to kill David.

The very next day as David was playing some music for him, Saul tried to pin him to the wall with his spear and David had to run from his presence twice. (1 Samuel 18:10-11)

The very next chapter of the Bible tells us that King Saul told his son Jonathan and all his servants to kill David. (1 Samuel 19:1) However, Jonathan spoke up for David and the king relented.

Saul's change of heart did not last for long because he sent messengers to pick David from his house so that he could kill him. However, David's wife Michal, who was also Saul's daughter, saved his life and helped him flee and go to Ramah. (1 Samuel 19:15-18)

David spent a long time running from Saul who was using his army to track and kill him though he had not done anything wrong.

Therefore understand that sometimes you may enter a season of persecution where you are being chased up and down and being harassed left, right and center through no fault of your own.

If you find yourself in such a season, pray and ask  God if there is anything you can do to stop the persecution. If there is nothing, just go through it well until the season of running ends.

One of the best things you can do during this season of running is to try and do the right thing in the sight of God all the time because this will help build your character and make God hearken to your cry for help.
