Encouragement: Cutting Times

A time to be cut

I have this beautiful black skirt which has been hanging in the back of my closet for a long time. I have never worn it because it is too long. I have always loved the material and liked the design but have never worn it because it was just too long.

The other day I decided to do something about it. I did some measuring then begun cutting. As I was cutting, I received the following revelation about cutting times. Cutting times are the times when things are just being cut from our lives. Finances are being trimmed. Career advancement cut short. Relationships severed.

I came to understand that God allows these difficult cutting times to come into our lives so that we can be made useful so as to fulfill the purpose that we were created for. You see the skirt without my trimming was useless. It was just a piece of beautiful cloth filling my closet but with the cutting, it became useful. It was able to fulfill the purpose for which it was designed which is to be worm.

So take heart even if you don't understand why all the chopping changes are taking place in life. God could be cutting away the excesses, trimming your personality so that you can fulfill the purpose that He designed you for. You have a lot of potential but before the cutting you are not useful, just filling church's pews the way the beautiful but useless skirt was filling my closet.

Be encouraged by knowing that once this painful process is over, He will heal the hurting jagged edges just as I hemmed my skirt's raw edges. You will them be healed and useful just as my skirt is now pretty useful and I am glad to say that as I write this blog, I am wearing it and using it for the purpose it was designed.

This blog post therefore is your answer to "Why God why?" and "Why me God, why me?". The answer is because you are loved and chosen for a purpose and that is why you are being trimmed to be the perfect fit for that specific purpose you were created to fulfill.

So, relax, surrender your life to God's capable hands just as the skirt surrendered itself to me and after the adjustments are over, you will be this well adjusted person, perfectly suited and equipped for the role your Maker designed you for because He says Before I formed you in the belly I knew you. Before you came out of the womb I sanctified you and I ordained you as a prophet. (Jeremiah 1:5)
Before I formed you in the belly I knew you. Before you came out of the womb I sanctified you and I ordained you as a prophet. (Jeremiah 1:5)

Jeremiah was selected to be a prophet. You may have been selected to be fulfill another role. So be patient for once your painful adjustments are over, you will fit that role perfectly just as my black skirt now fits me perfectly.
