Moving to Your Promised Land: Part 2

Moving to Your Promised Land: Part 2

Another lesson that you can learn from the Israelites as they journeyed from their Bondage Land in Egypt to their Promised Land in Canaan is that you have to listen to the right people.

We can see that when the 12 spies returned from the Promised Land, 10 of them told the people that they could not possess it because even though it flowed with milk and honey, "The people who dwell there are strong, the cities are large and fortified and there are also giants. (Numbers 13:28)

They continued and said, We are not able to go up against those people because they are stronger that us ... That land devours its inhabitants and all the people we saw there were big. We even saw giants and we were like grasshoppers in our eyes and in their eyes. (Numbers 13:31-33)

Caleb who had also gone to the Promised Land as a spy, spoke up and gave the Israelites a different opinion for he told them, "Let us go at once and take possession of the land for we are well able to conquer it." (Numbers 13:30)

The Israelites chose to believe the discouraging words of the 10 spies rather than those of Caleb which were in alignment with God's Words for He had already told them that He would give them the whole land of Canaan. (Genesis 17:8)

As a result of choosing to believe the wrong people and refusing to believe God's word, this group never entered their Promised Land. (Numbers 14:26-38)

Therefore regardless of whether you are leaving a Bondage Land of addiction or a Bondage Land of any other kind, you have to listen to the people giving you a message that is in alignment with God's will for your life.

This means that even if 10 "specialists" who know your specific type of problem very well like the 10 spies who had been to the Promised Land, tell you that you cannot overcome your addiction or any other problem in your life and that you will live in bondage for the rest of your life, you have to refuse to believe them.

Chose to believe the one "specialist" like lone Caleb who tells you that even though there are gigantic challenges ahead of you, you can still overcome your addiction or the oppressing problem that you are facing because that message goes in alignment with the Word of God for Jesus tells us that I have come so that you may have an life and have it to the full. (John 10:10)

Since going through life addicted to substances or living under oppressive circumstances is not the full life that Jesus brought us, you have to choose who to believe even if several people have the authority to speak into your life based on if their message confirms God's word for your life.

To do this emulate the Bereans for they Received the word that Paul preached with readiness of mind, but searched the Scriptures every day to determine whether it was so. (Acts 17:11)
