Paul told Timothy, "Stir up the gift of God that is in you." (2 Timothy 1:6)
God has given us all gifts and sometimes we need to heed Paul's advice and stir up those gifts within us.
So how do you stir up the gift of God that is inside you?
The answer to this question lies in the verse that follows this one because Paul said, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, of love and a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7)
This suggests that Timothy was letting the spirit of fear stop him from stirring up and using the gift of God that was within him.
To stir up the gift of God that is within you, you therefore need to do the following:
Overcome FearYou have to overcome fear since it will stop you from stirring up and using the gifts that God has placed in you.

If you being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more then will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!(Luke 11:9-13)
We are told, As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. (1 Peter 4:10)
Therefore the gift that you are stirring up inside you is to be used to minister to other people.
It is thus vital for you to develop love for people and especially those you will be ministering to with your gift.
To do this, continue praying to be filled with the Holy Spirit since The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience or longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23)
