The steps of the War Room Prayer Strategy for your Family are as follows:

1. Identify the Devil's Device
The devil uses many strategies to fight God's people and their families but We are not ignorant of his devices. (2 Corinthians 2:11) Theses devices of the devil include false accusations, confusion, deception, destruction and temptation.

You can identify the device being used against your family by paying attention to what you are experiencing. For example if many things that belong to your family are being destroyed, know that destruction is the device being used because The thief does not come except to steal, kill and destroy. (John 10:10)

We can see the devil using this device when the Midianites, Amalekites  and other people from the East would go to Israel and destroy all that they could to ensure the Israelites did not have any sustenance, sheep, ox or donkeys. As a result of the destruction, the Israelites were greatly impoverished. (Judges 6:1-6)

To deal with this device of destruction, you must come to Jesus because He says, “The thief comes to steal, to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)

Thus we can see that while the thief or the devil comes to destroy by stealing, killing or demolishing your assets, Jesus came to do the opposite and give you an abundant life. Therefore if you are suffering because of the devil's destructive effects on your family, invite Jesus into your life by accepting Him as you Lord and Savior. To do this say with your mouth that “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that when He died for our sins, God raised Him from the dead and you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

Then invite Jesus into your family's home. To do this read How to Sanctify your Home.

2. Put on the Armor of God
The Bible instructs us to, "Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the tricks of the devil." (Ephesians 6:11)

The armor of God consists of the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the belt of truth, the shoes of the Gospel of peace, the shield of faith and the sword of the spirit which is the Word of God. (Ephesians 6:14-17)

To put on this armor of God you have to do the following:

1. Put on the helmet of salvation by saying with your mouth that “Jesus is Lord” and believing in your heart that when Jesus died for our sins, God raised Him from the dead and you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

2. Put on the breastplate of righteousness by doing the right thing in the sight of God.

3. Tie the belt of truth by being truthful in all your dealings.

4. Put on the Gospel of peace by reading your Bible every day.

5. Take up the shield of faith by believing God and His Word in the Bible because this will help you neutralize the attacks of the enemy.

6. Take up the sword of the spirit which is the word of God by speaking Scriptures over your situation.

3. Praise and Thank God
The Bible tells us to Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. (Psalm 100:4)

This means that when you want to enter God's presence you have to thank Him and praise Him.

Therefore put begin playing Christian praise songs and singing along.

Combine this with thanking God for what He has done for you in the past and praising Him for what He will do for you in the future.

You can also praise God for Who He is especially if you need Him to use those attributes to help you.

For example if you need Him to fight for your family and give you victory, you can praise Him by saying, "I praise You because You are Jehovah Nissi (Genesis 22:14) the Lord Our Banner."

War Room Prayers for your Family
4. Pray Fervently
To pray effectively over your situation, you have to use Bible verses since The sword of the spirit is the Word of God. (Ephesians 6:17)

The following War Room Prayers for your family are adapted from the book SWORD WORDS which is a compilation of War Room Scriptures to pray and a battle plan to win your Christian spiritual warfare battles.

Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to bless my family because it is written that the tent of the upright will flourish (Proverbs 14:11) and you bless the home of the just. (Proverbs 3:33)

Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to help me and my house serve You Lord. (Joshua 24:15)

Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to help me and my family because You are a Father to the fatherless and a Defender of widows. (Psalm 68:5)

As you pray ensure that you are living a righteous life because it is written that The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much (James 5:16) and The eyes of God are on the righteous and His ears are open to their prayers. (1 Peter 3:2)

Ensure that you have also confessed your sins because The Lord’s hand is not shortened that it cannot save you and His ear is not heavy that He cannot hear you. But your iniquities have separated you from your God and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He will not hear. (Isaiah 59:1-2)

5. Have Faith
As you pray you have to believe that you will receive what you are asking for because we are told to Ask in faith (James 1:6)

It does not matter even if you feel your faith is small because Jesus taught, "If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." (Matthew 17:20)

If you find that your faith is wavering, pray "Lord I believe. Help my unbelief." (Mark 9:24) Then remind yourself of how God has helped you in the past like David did when he encountered Goliath for he said, "The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." (I Samuel 17:37)

6. Fast
Jesus taught that somethings have to be dealt with by combining prayer with fasting when He said, "This kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting." (Matthew 17:21

Therefore combine praying with abstaining from food for 1 day or 3 days or 21 days or 40 days. If you have never fasted before you can begin by skipping 1 meal.

As you abstain from food ensure that you are not engaging in pleasurable activities or taking advantage of people because when the Israelites asked God “Why have we fasted and You do not see? (Isaiah 58:3) He told them, “On the day you fast, you find pleasure and exploit your laborers.” (Isaiah 58:3)

To learn more read How to Fast Effectively which uses Bible examples to teach you the things you should do to ensure that you get great results when you fast.
How to Fast Effectively uses Bible examples to teach you what you should do to get great results when you abstain from food for spiritual purposes.

7. Cling to God's Promises
As you wait to receive what you are praying for, emulate Abraham for Abraham did not water at the promise of God through unbelief. But he was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God while being fully convinced that what God had promised, He was able to perform. (Romans 4:20-21)

Therefore meditate  on the Promises of God for your situation while being fully convinced that what God has promised in His Word, He is able to perform for you.

Promises of God for your family that you can meditate on include:
1. All my children shall be taught by the Lord and great is the peace of my children. (Adapted Isaiah 54:13)

2. This is my covenant says the Lord: "My Spirit that is upon you and My words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth or out of your children's mouth or out of your children's offspring" says the Lord from this time forth and forever more. (Adapted Isaiah 59:21)

3. Blessed is the person who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in His commandments! His offspring will be mighty in the land. (Psalm 112:1-2)

4. The seed of the righteous shall be delivered. (Proverbs 11:21)

To find these promises, go through your Bible or read The Promises of God and Their Conditions.

The Promises of God and their Conditions teaches you the things that God says He will give you and what you have to do to get them.

SWORD WORDS to fight for your family

8. Speak to the Situation

Jesus taught, "If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting." (Matthew 17:20-21)

Therefore in addition to praying in faith and fasting, you also have to speak to the mountainous problem that your family is facing and tell it where it should go.

You can also speak to your family every morning and evening by using the SWORD WORDS you used to pray for it as your Christian affirmations. To do this, you can modify them in the following way:

The Lord God is blessing my family because the tent of the upright will flourish (Proverbs 14:11) and He blesses the home of the just. (Proverbs 3:33)

The Lord God is helping me and my house to serve Him. (Joshua 24:15)

The Lord God is helping me and my family because He is a Father to the fatherless and a Defender of widows. (Psalm 68:5)
