How to Overcome Opposition: Part 3 Nehemiah

How to overcome opposition: Part 3 Nehemiah

Nehemiah faced very strong opposition as he rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem and he overcame the opposition and finished rebuilding the walls by arming his builders for he says, The builders who rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem had swords girded at their sides as they built. (Nehemiah 4:17-18)

Therefore as you do your physical work that is being opposed, ensure that you are also wearing your spiritual armor.

This armor which is described in Ephesians 6 consists of:
the helmet  of salvation
the breastplate of righteousness
the belt of truth
the shoes of the Gospel
the shield of faith
the sword of the spirit

This means that before you leave for the place where you are doing the work that is facing stiff opposition, you should prepare yourself by wearing the shoes of the Gospel by reading the Bible.

You should also ensure that you are saved. If you are not saved, say with your mouth that "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that when He died for our sins God raised Him from the dead and you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

Once you get to your workplace ensure that as you go about doing your physical work you are wearing the breastplate of righteousness by doing the right thing in the sight of God at all times and that you have also tied the belt of truth by being truthful all the time.

Make sure that you also hold the shield of faith by believing that you will succeed in completing the work that is being opposed and utilize the sword of the spirit by speaking overcoming Scriptures as you work like No weapon formed against me shall prosper. (Isaiah 54:17)

Christian Tip to Remember
You can face stiff opposition as you do God's work for Nehemiah was facing the strong opposition that you can read about in Nehemiah 4 as he was doing the work that "God had placed in my heart to do in Jerusalem" (Nehemiah 2:12) Therefore, do not give up. Trust in God and focus on completing the work He has given you to do.
