What To Do When Surrounded By Enemies and Problems

When the Israelites found themselves trapped by the Red Sea on side and Pharoah's army on the other, Moses told them, "Do not be afraid. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, what He will do for you today. For the Egyptians you see today you shall never see them again. The Lord will fight for you and you shall hold your peace.(Exodus 14:13-14)

Therefore if you ever find yourself surrounded by problems and enemies use the following tips from Moses's advice so that you can navigate the situation successfully:

1. Do Not Be Afraid
Meditate on Scriptures that fight fear instead of meditating on what your enemies can do for you. One good Bible verse is No weapon formed against me shall prosper. (Isaiah 54:17)

2. Stand Still
Refuse to panic. Calm yourself on the inside so that you can Be still and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10) is still God over your situation even if the enemy is trying to convince you that he is in control.

3. Hold Your Peace
Avoid talking because in such situations the tendency is to say something that may worsen your situation. If you must talk, use Scriptures since The Word of God is the sword of the spirit. (Ephesians 6:17)

For instance if your enemies taunt you with "Let us see what you will do", reply to them silently in your heart by quoting Bible verses like, "I will see the salvation of the Lord, what He will do for me.(Adapted Exodus 14:13-14)

4. Expect God's Salvation
Wait expectantly for God to do something that will save you. Know that even if the situation seems humanly hopeless, With God all things are possible (Matthew 19:22) and He can still save you for He was able to save the Israelites by:
a. Moving a cloud
God moved the pillar of cloud from infront of the Isaelites to behind them so that it stood between their camp and Pharaoh's army. This cloud brought darkness to the Egyptian camp and light to the Israelite camp and thus ensured that the Egyptians did not move towards the Israelites that whole night. (Exodus 14:19-20)

b. Moving a sea
God sent a strong east wind which divided the waters and moved the sea forming dry ground which had walls of water on the right and left side. (Exodus 14:21-22) This enabled the Israelites to cross the Red Sea safely.

How to fight discouragement with Bible verses

  1. I think that #3 'Hold your peace' is probably one of the most important recommendations you have offered. When surrounded, it's an easy temptation to get nervous and say too much. Then, it makes the situation worse because one tends to either say silly things that, not only reflect our nervousness, but also gives 'fuel to the fire' of an enemy or enemies.
