How to Manage Anger

When someone tries to ignite the fire of ire inside you, remind yourself that a person who is slow to anger is better than the one who is mighty. (Proverbs 16:32)

Then try to ignore the trigger for the discretion of a person makes them slow to anger and their glory is to overlook a transgression. (Proverbs 19:11) Triumph over yourself and over the person trying to infuriate you by ignoring their provocation.

If you do get infuriated, get angry but do not sin (Ephesians 4:26) or make decisions when you are mad (pun intended).

Then, be determined to snuff out anger and do not to let the sun go down on your wrath. (Ephesians 4:26) Extinguish your anger by taking several deep breaths or strolling away to saturate your heart with soothing music.

Do all that you can so that you do not let it simmer inside you for anger rests in the bosom of fools (Ecclesiastes 7:9) before it extinguishes them.

Finally, do not associate with quick tempered people and evade fiery friends lest you learn their ways and set snares for yourself. (Proverbs 22:24-25) Avoid angry people for hot tempered people stir up trouble. (Proverbs 15:18)

If you have to deal with them and they lose their temper, keep quiet until they calm down. If they fly into a rage, walk away before they hit the ceiling. Return once they have cooled down (if you have to) and talk in a cool, calm voice to set the tone for the ensuing conversation.
