Exercise Therapy for Dealing with Depression

Physical exercise has been proven to be as effective as some prescription medications for treating mild to moderate depression.

Aerobic Exercises

Aerobic exercises are very effective for reducing the symptoms of depression.
Therefore engage in rhythmic exercises like walking, swimming or jogging for 30 minutes each day

You can even combine aerobic exercises with stretching and weight bearing exercises to create a complete exercise plan like the following:

Day 1
Whole body stretch to warm up
30 min brisk walk or swim or jog
Whole body stretch to cool down

Day 2
Whole body stretch to warm up
10 push ups, 10 triceps dips, 10 crunches
Whole body stretch to cool down

Day 3
Whole body stretch to warm up
30 min brisk walk or swim or jog
Whole body stretch to cool down

Day 4
Whole body stretch to warm up
10 squats, 10 lunges, 10 calf raises, 10 crunches
Whole body stretch to cool down

Day 5
Whole body stretch to warm up
30 min brisk walk or swim or jog
Whole body stretch to cool down

If you have been living a sedentary life first consult your doctor before beginning any exercise program.
