Matthew 14 Bible Study: God can come in a different way

During the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went to the disciples walking on the sea. The disciples were troubled when they saw Him walking on the water and saying, He was a ghost, they cried out in fear. (Matthew 14:25-26)

If the disciples had seen Jesus coming in a boat towards them, chances are they would not have been distress or cried out in fear.
Therefore know that God can come into your situation in a way that is different from how you expect Him to come. For example, if need to be fed in the middle of a famine, God can send you to a poor widow who is preparing her last meal like He did for Elijah (1 Kings 17) instead of sending you to a rich king.
God can also come into your situation by using unbelievers. For example, He used King Cyrus to help the Israelites rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem (Ezra 5:13) and said to him, “So that you may know that I, the Lord, who calls you by your name am the God of Israel. For the sake of the Israelites my chosen people, I have called you by your name even though you have not known Me.” (Isaiah 45:1-7)
Therefore do not expect God to solve your problems the way you would solve them yourself for He tells us, “My thoughts are not your thoughts and your ways are not My ways,” says the Lord.  “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than yours and My thoughts above your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)
Therefore if you are in a stressful situation, heed the Lord God Who promises you, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you” (Isaiah 43:2) for He also tells you that He is The Lord God who creates a way in the sea and a path through mighty waters (Isaiah 43:16) and encourages you by saying, “Do not remember the things that happened in the past or consider the old things. Behold, I will do a new thing and it shall spring forth. Shall you not recognize it? I will even create a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:18-19)
So do not be surprised if God does a new thing in your stressful situation. For example, God who is known for creating a road in the sea like He did for the Israelites when He parted the Red Sea, can do a new thing for you by creating a road in your desert.

Consequently, if you see something out of the ordinary happening and it starts to trouble you, pray and ask God to confirm whether it is Him doing a new thing for you like Peter did.
