He, therefore, falsifies facts so that he can trick God’s people the way the Gibeonites deceived the Israelites.
This fabrication of facts happened when the Israelites were possessing their Promised Land because the Gibeonites wore old clothes and carried old food to deceive the Israelites that they had come from a faraway place when in fact they lived near them.
As a result of their fabrication, the Israelites signed an agreement promising to preserve their lives even though God had told them to destroy all the people who had been living in their Promised Land. (Joshua 9)
