How to Fight a Foul Mouth with Bible Verses

September 2015 Update: How to Fight a Foul Mouth with Bible Verses 2nd Edition is now available.

Regardless of whether you are always cursing or swearing and using the Lord’s name in vain or you are prone to lying or using profanities, obscenities or abusive language, understand that you have to combine spiritual, mental, verbal and physical interventions to form your own holistic deliverance ministry to fight your foul mouth and learn how to stop swearing.

The first spiritual intervention is to pray and ask God to help you clean your dirty mouth. As you pray, use Scriptures since Bible verses are the foundation of any deliverance ministry and Christian spiritual warfare because the Word of God is the Sword of the Spirit that God has given us to fight with. (Ephesians 6:17) Therefore, we will call the Scriptures that we will use to fight for your tongue SWORD WORDS.

SWORD WORDS that you can use as personal deliverance prayers include:
1. Father God, help me so that no corrupt word will proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for necessary edification so that it may impart grace to the hearers. (Adapted Ephesians 4:29)

2. Father God, help me so that my speech will always be graceful and seasoned with salt so that I may know how I ought to answer everyone. (Adapted Colossians 4:6)

3. Father God, help me and let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O God, my strength and my Redeemer. (Psalm 19:14)

As you pray, believe that God will help you since having faith in God and in His Word is how you hold up your shield of faith which is one of our spiritual weapons and the weapon that is able to quench all the fiery darts of the enemy. (Ephesians 6:16)

In addition to praying for yourself, ask your Pastor to pray for you and attend Deliverance services so that you can learn different spiritual warfare prayers and receive deliverance for your mouth from vulgarity.

After praying, put on the helmet of salvation since it is one of the weapons of our warfare being part of the armor of God that we need to put on to fight our spiritual battles. (Ephesians 6:14-17)

All you need to put on this helmet of salvation is to say with your mouth that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead when He died for our sins and you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

The next spiritual step, which also doubles up as a mental step, is to remove all negative thoughts from your mind since A good person out of the good treasure of their heart brings forth good and an evil person out of the evil treasure of their heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart their mouth speaks. (Luke 6:45)

Therefore, meditate on whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous and praise worthy (Philippians 4:8) so that you can fill your mind with a treasure of true, honest, just, pure, lovely, virtuous and praise worthy thoughts from which true, honest, just, pure, lovely, virtuous and praise worthy words will flow from instead of cursing words, profanities and lies.

How to Fight Opposition with Bible Verses

How to Fight Opposition with Bible Verses

How to Fight Opposition with Bible Verses
Regardless of whether your true enemies or false friends are opposing your efforts to improve your finances, family or firm, you have to combine spiritual, mental and physical interventions to form your own holistic deliverance ministry and fight the people and powers opposing you.

The first spiritual step is to pray. Learn from Nehemiah who faced stiff opposition as he was leading the rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem because When Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the walls of Jerusalem were being restored and that the gaps were being closed, they became very angry and conspired to come and attack Jerusalem and create confusion.

Nevertheless, Nehemiah says, We made our prayer to God. (Nehemiah 4)

Therefore, if you are facing opposition as you try to rebuild your marriage, ministry, career, finances or whatever had been destroyed in your life, the first thing you must do is to pray and ask God to help you.

As you pray, use Scriptures since the Word of God is the Sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17) that God has given us to fight with. We will therefore call the Scriptures that we will use to SWORD WORDS.

SWORD WORDS that you can use as personal deliverance or spiritual warfare prayers to fight opposition include:
1. Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to oppose those who oppose me and fight against those who fight against me. (Psalm 35:1)

2. Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to take hold of Your shield and armor and stand up to help me. (Psalm 35:2)

As you pray, you can also speak to the people who are opposing and tell them, Refrain from meddling with God who is with me by opposing me lest He destroy you. (2 Chronicles 35:21)
God is fighting those who are fighting me. Psalm 35:1

SWORD WORDS that you can use as personal deliverance prayers to fight opposition include:
1. Oppose those who oppose me, O Lord my God. Fight against those who fight against me. Take hold of shield and armor and stand up for my help. (Psalm 35:1-2)

In addition to praying for yourself, ask your Pastor to pray for you and attend Deliverance services offline and watch them online so that you can learn different spiritual warfare prayers and receive deliverance from your opposition.

After praying, put on the helmet of salvation since it is one of the weapons of our warfare being part of the armor of God that we need to put on to fight our spiritual battles. (Ephesians 6:14-17)

The next step is the mental one of removing all negative thoughts from your mind. Learn from Nehemiah who advised his builders to remove fearful thought about their enemies from their mind by reminding themselves of God’s power for he said, "Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord God, great and awesome. (Nehemiah 4:14)

Therefore, do not think about or meditate on how powerful and dangerous your opposers are. Instead think about or meditate on how great and powerful God is so that you can Be renewed in the spirit of your mind. (Ephesians 4:23) To do this, set specific meditation session during the day when you can meditate on the following spiritual warfare scriptures:
1. That night the angel of the Lord went out and killed 185,000 soldiers in the Assyrian camp. (2 Kings 19:35)

2. During the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and let them out. (Acts 5:19)

3. When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord God will lift up a standard against him. (Isaiah 59:19)

In addition to this, understand that you must combine your confidence in God’s ability to help you out (God confidence) with confidence in your ability to do your part (self confidence). Learn from the Israelites because they were initially unable to face their opposers and conquer their promised land because they lacked healthy self confidence for they said of themselves when they saw their opposers, We were like grasshoppers in our own eyes. (Numbers 13:33)

Bible Verses as Warfare Prayers for your Christian Faith

Bible Verses as Warfare Prayers for your Christian Faith is part of our Christian Spiritual Warfare Prayers Series

If doubts have been eating away at your Christian faith or you feel that your faith is not "sufficient" to handle the challenges you are facing, understand that the first thing that you should do is to pray for it.

Draw your warfare prayers from verses of the Bible because the Word of God is the Sword of the Spirit that God has given us to fight with.

Bible Verses or Scriptures that you can use as your warfare prayers to pray for your Christian faith include:
1. Mark 9:24 which has been adapted to Lord Jesus I believe. Please help my unbelief.

2. Luke 17:5 which has been adapted to Lord God, please increase my faith.

3. Romans 12:3 which has been adapted to Heavenly Father, your Word says that You have dealt to each one a measure of faith, therefore please increase my measure of faith and help me to remember that I do have some measure of faith when doubts beset me.

After praying these warfare prayers and other deliverance prayers, postion yourself to increase your faith by doing the following:
1. Read your Bible
Increase the amount you read your Bible and listen to the Word of God being preached each day since Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17)

2. Stop discussing your faith with unbelievers
Stop arguing or "debating" or "discussing" your faith with unbelievers because The natural person does not receive the things of the Spirit of God because they are foolishness to him and neither can they know them because they are spiritually discerned. (1 Corinthians 2:14)

Remember also that Your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but it should be in the power of God. (1 Corinthians 2:5) Therefore, even if they produce very convincing points and facts to prove their case, just cling on to the Word of God.

3.Spend more time sharing with believers
Spend more time sharing your victories, defeats, doubts all things pertaining to your faith with fellow believers especially mature Christians who have been living out their faith for several decades.

In addition, ensure you attend Church services and other mid week fellowships such as Bible studies regularly because we have been instructed Not to forsake assembling together as some have done. Instead we should do so and encourage one another. (Hebrews 10:25)

4. Walk in faith
Develop the habit of Walking by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7) because The just person shall live by faith. (Hebrews 10:38)

Do this by deciding to believe what you read in your Bible every time a doubt enters your mind or every time someone tries to shoot down your faith or discredit Christianity. Decide right now that you will believe God and believe His Word even if you do not understand Him or every thing in the Bible because My thoughts are not your thoughts and neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord God. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9)

Jesus is the Best Stress Management Therapist

Jesus is the Best Stress Management Therapist

If you have been seeking professional help from psychiatrists, family doctors, psychotherapists, family therapists, financial advisers or social workers, understand that even as you continue following their recommendations, asking Jesus to help you manage your stressful situation is the best thing you can ever do for yourself.

This is because Jesus can see it all and heal it all. He can auscultate and heal the pain in your heart that you cannot enunciate. He can palpate and treat the frustration that erupts as angry outbursts. He can decipher and doctor the silent screams that are smothering you into depression.

Therefore, invite Him into your life today because He is standing at the door of your stressed heart knocking for He wants to help you. (Revelation 3:20)

To let Him into your life, all you have to do is to say with your mouth that “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that when He died for our sins on the cross, God raised Him up from the dead and you will be saved. (Romans 10:9-10)
Put on the helmet of salvation

Even if you have broken all the commandments and brought the stressful situation upon yourself, don’t hesitate in asking Jesus to come into your life because He still wants to help you and that is why He is standing at your door knocking.

So let Him in right now because He already knows about the chaos in our lives. Do not be ashamed of your mess for God did not send His Son Jesus into the world to condemn the world. (John 3:17) This means that Jesus will not condemn you because of your sins for God sent Him to save you and give you everlasting life if you believe in Him. (John 3:16)

Therefore, open up your life to Him and show Him your emotional wounds so that He can help you manage emotional stress. Show Him the mutilations inflicted by traumatic circumstances that have ached continually for decades. Show Him the windows of your heart patched with old newspapers that will not let the light of love in after the panes were shattered by an unfaithful loved one.

Show Him the stinking garbage that you brought home one evening, grew attached to and have been unable to throw out. Show Him the mental wounds also so that He can help you manage mental stress. Let Him see the cracks in the walls of your mind that keep extending everyday as your problems become more and more unbearable.

Show Him the rooms in your head that you will not enter as they are haunted by broken dreams and wasted opportunities. Show Him the toilets that will not flush and let go of painful memories as they are clogged with anger, bitterness and hatred.

Unveil the wounds on your body also so that He can help you manage physical stress. Show Him the cancer that is re-growing. Let Him see the eye that was blinded by the freak accident. Show him the kidneys that have failed and the limb that has been paralyzed by disease.

Do not hide your financial statements from Him so that He can also help you manage your financial stress. Show Him the meals you forego to buy medication. Show Him your last pay slip before you were unjustly sacked. Show Him around the tiny room you are cramped in since your house was repossessed.
With God all things are possible Matthew 19:26

Let Jesus see the full extent of your stressful situation so that He can restore you to wholeness. Do not fear to bare it all for Him for He looks with love and listens with compassion. Do not edit your sources of stress or hide your hurt for He loves you and He has accepted you totally.

Talk to Jesus everyday so that He can be your Chief Therapist for He is the only One who can see all the sources of stress and how exactly they are stressing you. He can see them all, assess their severity with accuracy and discern the degree of distress you are experiencing.
God heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3

In addition to seeing it all, Jesus is also able to solve it all. He can be your physician, psychiatrist, lawyer, marriage counselor, family therapist and financial adviser if you let Him.

Therefore, consult Him every day by praying. Read the Bible to know His prescriptions for your problem and then heed it just as you take the medications prescribed by your family doctor.
