The Caleb Difference

Are you facing a gigantic challenge?

If you are, know that you can overcome it by learning what made Caleb different from the other spies.

God had promised to give the Israelites a land flowing with milk and honey.

Caleb and 11 other men were sent by Moses to view this Promised Land and 10 of them brought back the following report:

"The Promised Land Truly flows with milk and honey ... Nevertheless the people are strong and the cities are fortified and ... we saw giants and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight and also in their own sight." (Numbers 13:27-33)

These 10 spies continued and said, "We are not able to fight against these people because they are stronger than us.(Numbers 13:31)

By seeing themselves as grasshoppers, these 10 men defeated themselves mentally and they were thus unable to muster enough courage to fight the giants dwelling in their Promised Land.

So, learn from their mistake and monitor your thoughts to ensure that you do not think demeaning thoughts about yourself.

If you catch yourself thinking self-depreciating thoughts, change them by replacing them with thoughts that are in alignment with what God's Word says about you. These thoughts that you should think about yourself include:
I am God's masterpiece created in Christ to do good works which God prepared for me. (Ephesians 2:10)

I am more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ who loves me. (Romans 8:37)

I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)

I am fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)

I am a light for the world. (Matthew 5:14)

I am complete in God. (Colossians 2:10)

Make it a habit to therefore think like a winner because it is written that "As a person thinks in their heart, so are they". (Proverbs 23:7)

Ensure that you also speak these victorious Scriptures over yourself so that you can believe them since Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. (Romans 10:17)

Therefore, create time every day to say these and similar Bible verses as your Christian affirmations since this will help you develop a giant-conquering mentality.

The Caleb Difference
Caleb did not agree with the grasshopper mentality spies even thought he had also seen the strong people, the fortified cities and the giants in their Promised Land because he said, "We are well able to conquer the Promised Land." (Numbers 13:30)

This was due to the fact that Caleb had a different spirit in him (Numbers 14:24) and he followed God "wholeheartedly". (Numbers 14:24)

Therefore if you want to conquer gigantic problems, in addition to thinking thoughts about yourself that are in alignment with what the Bible says, you also have to follow God 100%.

To do this you have to believe with your whole heart and mind what He tells you personally even if it seems impossible in the natural.

In addition, you also have to believe with your whole heart and mind what He says in the Bible.

So, if you are facing a gigantic challenge, pray and ask God what you should do about it.

Then, go through you Bible to find the promises that pertain to your situation and decide to believe them 100% even if it seems that they cannot come to pass because of your current limitations.

For example, if you are facing a gigantic financial challenge, decide to wholeheartedly believe the following Promises of God:

Honor the Lord with your possessions and with the first fruits of all your increase so that your barns will be filled with plenty and your vats will overflow with new wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10)

"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so that there may be food in My house and try Me now in this," says the Lord of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing so that there will not be enough room to receive it." (Malachi 3:10)

The person who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord and He will pay back what he has given. (Proverbs 19:17)

Believe these Promises of God, do what you need to do to have them fulfilled (pay your first fruits and tithe and give to the poor) and then wait on God to bring them to pass.

The Caleb difference that made him have a victorious, giant-conquering mentality is also seen in David when he faced the challenge of fighting a giant named Goliath.

We see it when King Saul told him, "You are not able to fight Goliath because you are just a youth and he has been a fighter from his youth" (1 Samuel 17:33) because David replied and told the King, "I have killed both lion and bear and this Philistine will be like one of them." (1 Samuel 17:36)

Therefore prepare yourself to deal with any gigantic challenges that you may encounter by cultivating a giant-conquering mentality through meditating and confessing victorious Bible verses.

How to Reduce Self Doubt and Increase Self Confidence

Another great thing we can learn from David is that his confidence in his own ability to fight gigantic Goliath was combined with having confidence in God's ability to help him for he said, "The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." (1 Samuel 17:37)

Therefore emulate David and combine your faith in your own capabilities to deal with your challenges with faith in God's ability to help you deal with them since He can do for you what you cannot do for yourself for With God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26)

How to strengthen your faith in God

Another thing David can teach us about having a winning, giant-conquering mentality is that we have to recall our past victories the way he did when he said, "The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." (1 Samuel 17:37)

Therefore, when you are facing a gigantic problem, remind yourself of other problems you have faced in your past and say and believe that, "The Lord who delivered me from those problems yesterday, He will also deliver me from these problems today".

If these are the first gigantic problems you are facing, say and believe that, "The Lord who delivered David from the lion and bear and Goliath, He will also deliver me from these gigantic problems today" because He is still the same God.

If the Israelites had said and believed that "The Lord who delivered us from the hand of Pharaoh and his army, He will also deliver us from the hand of these giants in our Promised Land" chances are they would not feared them and refused to fight for their Promised Land. (Numbers 14)

God even expected these Israelites to remember what He had done for them because He said, All these men who have seen My glory and the signs I did in Egypt and in the wilderness (Numbers 14:22) ... shall not enter the Promised Land.

So remind yourself of the things that God has done for you in the past and say with your mouth as you believe with your heart that God, who helped you yesterday is still able to help you today and you will face your challenges fearlessly and overcome them victoriously.
