How to Stop Being a Thirsty Girl like the Samaritan Woman at the Well

How to Stop Being a Thirsty Girl like the Samaritan Woman at the Well

The Urban Dictionary defines a thirsty girl as a lady who desperately craves the attention of a man. It further clarifies that the term thirsty means the need to gain fame through social media like Instagram.

Though the Bible is more than 2000 years old, it shows us a great example of a thirsty girl.

This was the Samaritan woman at the Sychar well who was asked by Jesus to bring her husband and she told Him that she did not have one. Jesus then said to her, “You have had 5 husbands and the man you have now is not your husband”. (John 4:17-18)

Thus we can see that even though she lived centuries ago, she was truly a thirsty girl even by our 21st century standards for she craved the attention of men so much that she had lived with 5 of them and was now on her 6th “come-we-stay marriage”.

Thirsty Girls Drink Recipes
Jesus gave this thirsty woman the solution for her craving when he told her, “Whoever drinks of the water that I give will never thirst.” (John 4:14)

This living water that Jesus prescribed for her was Himself because He says, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.” (John 7:37)

Therefore if you would like to stop being a thirsty girl, drink the living water that Jesus prescribed for this thirsty woman and you will never thirst again for attention from men and strangers on social media.

To drink this water that Jesus prescribed, do the following:

Come to Jesus
Come to Jesus because for He says, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me.” (John 7:37)

To come to Jesus, you have to say with your mouth that “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that when He died for our sins God raised Him from the dead and you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

After accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you now have to live as He expects you to by doing what the Bible says.

Living to please only Jesus will remove the need for constant validation from persons on social media. The peace from God that you will get as a result of doing His will negate the need to drop your neckline and reveal your cleavage or raise your hem and expose your thighs so that you can get more LIKES on Instagram and Facebook.

Bible Lessons from the Samaritan Woman at the Well

As you come to Jesus, learn from this Samaritan woman at the well and understand that you have to be truthful to Him. Do not lie to Jesus in your prayers in an attempt to sanitize your life. Tell Him the truth because He already knows it and also so by admitting your flaws, you can begin healing.

Drink the Word
After coming to Jesus, you now have to drink His living water because He says, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.” (John 7:37)

To drink His water, you have to meditate on Bible verses because Jesus is the Word of God for the Bible tells us that In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. (John 1:1) The Bible also states that The Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory. (John 1:14)

Therefore create time every day to meditate on Scriptures so that you can drink in the Word of God.

Doing this is doubly beneficial because the person who meditates on the Word of God Shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water. (Psalm 1:3) This tree that is growing beside a river never thirsts because of its constant access to water and consequently it brings forth its fruit in its season and its leaf shall not wither and whatever they do shall prosper. (Psalm 1:3)

Since most thirsty girls seek attention so that they can raise their self esteem, begin by meditating on Bible verses to boost your self esteem like the following:
I am fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)
I am precious in God's eyes. (Adapted Isaiah 43:4)
I am God's masterpiece created in Christ to do good works which God prepared for me. (Ephesians 2:10)

In addition to drinking these Scriptures into your mind by meditating on them, you also have to drink them into your body by confessing them with your mouth as you believe them with your heart so that you can be secure in who you are in Christ.

Therefore spend a few minutes each day speaking these Scriptures over your life after you have personalized them and preferably when you are standing in front of a mirror. For example, you can say each morning as you prepare to face the day and each evening as you prepare to sleep:
I, (insert your name) am fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)
I, (insert your name) am precious in God's eyes. (Adapted Isaiah 43:4)
I, (insert your name) am God's masterpiece created in Christ to do good works which God prepared for me. (Ephesians 2:10)

Pray
Pray and ask God to heal the broken places inside you so that you can stop being desperate and seeking attention to validate your worth because He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. (Psalm 147:3) Prayers that you can pray for emotional healing include:

Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to heal me and I shall be healed because You are the one I praise. (Adapted Jeremiah 17:14)

Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to bring health and healing to me. Father God heal me and reveal to me an abundance of peace and truth. (Adapted Jeremiah 33:6)

Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to restore me to physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health and heal all my wounds. (Adapted Jeremiah 30:17)

Worship God
When the woman at the well realized that Jesus was not an ordinary man, she said to him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. Our fathers worshipped on this mountain and you Jews say Jerusalem is the place of worship.” (John 4:19)

Jesus clarified her dilemma by telling her that the place of worship was not important but rather the state of someone’s heart for He said, “The hour is coming and it is now, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. (John 4:23-24)

Therefore confess your sins and then spend time every day singing Christian worship songs.

Testify
The Bible tells us that this woman went to the city and told the men to come and see a Man who had told her all that she had ever done and they came to Jesus. (John 4:28-30)

Therefore another lesson that you can learn from this Samaritan Woman at the Well is to begin telling others about Jesus and what He has done for you. This testifying is important because your testimony will enable you to overcome the enemy because it is written that They overcame him by the Blood of the Lamb and by the Word of their testimony. (Revelation 12:11)

Therefore, make it a point to tell people what God has done for you and to plead the Blood of Jesus over your life for protection.
