How to Fight Vengeance with Bible Verses
Regardless of whether you have the urge to revenge because of the
grievous damage that was done to your reputation, marriage, finances, family or
career, you have to combine spiritual, mental, verbal, and physical
interventions to form your own holistic deliverance ministry to defeat these
feelings of vengeance because God clearly tells us Beloved, do not avenge
yourselves, but rather give place to wrath, for it is written, “Vengeance is
Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. (Romans 12:19)
Learn also from Joseph,
who reassured his brothers that he would not hurt them to avenge himself when
he asked them, “Am I in the place of
God?” (Genesis 50:19) This was
after they had cruelly sold him into slavery where he suffered for 13 years
before God had promoted him to be the Prime Minister of Egypt.
Therefore, do not take
the place of God and avenge yourself either verbally or physically. Instead,
pray and commit your situation to God as you ask Him to avenge you and help you
not avenge yourself since this is the first spiritual intervention for
destroying feelings of vengeance.
As you pray, use
Scriptures since the Word of God is the Sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17)
that God has given us to fight with. We will therefore call the Scriptures that
we will use to SWORD WORDS.
SWORD WORDS that you can use as personal deliverance prayers include:
1. O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongs – O God, to whom vengeance belongs,
shine forth! (Psalm 94:1)
2. O Lord, You have
seen how I am wronged. Judge my case and give me justice. (Adapted Lamentations 3:59)
3. O Lord of Hosts,
You Who judge righteously, testing the mind and the heart, let me see Your
vengeance on them, for to You I have revealed my cause. (Jeremiah 11:20)
