Lessons from Mary Magdalene

Lessons from Mary Magdalene

Mary Magdalene is a woman who was delivered by Jesus after He cast out 7 demons from her and she can teach us the following lessons:

Lesson 1 Serve God

After being delivered Mary Magdalene used her physical substance or wealth to serve the Lord for the Bible tells us that As Jesus went through every city and village preaching the Good News, He went with the 12 disciples and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and illnesses like Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast out 7 demons, and Joanna ... and Susanna ... who used their means to provide for Him. (Luke 8:1-3)

Therefore use whatever you can to serve the Lord the way Mary Magdalene used her money to cater for Jesus' Ministry.

Lesson 2 Commit to Jesus Completely

We see that Mary Magdalene was committed to Jesus even after He was crucified and buried for After the Sabbath, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Salome bought spices to embalm Him. Then, very early on Sunday morning they set out for the tomb. (Mark 16:1-2)

Thus we see that her commitment to Jesus Christ was total:
In the good times when Jesus' Ministry was doing well as He went about preaching and healing and
In the bad times when it seemed like it was all over as His body lay in the tomb.

Therefore, commit to Jesus completely and decide that you will serve Him when times are good and when times are bad.

Lesson 3 Do Not Let Anything Hold You Back

As Mary Magdalene and the other women were going to the tomb with their spices, They were wondering, 'Who will roll back the tombstone for us?' (Mark 16:3)

Mary Magdalene had actually seen the large stone being rolled to cover the mouth of the cave and she knew how big it was because when Joseph of Arimathea had laid the body of Jesus in his new tomb and Rolled a large stone across the door of the tomb, Mary Magdalene was there. (Matthew 27:60-61)

So to her the large stone was a fact she had seen with her own 2 eyes and not just heresay or a rumor

But the fact that she had seen the rock being rolled to close the tomb that contained the body of Jesus did not stop her from buying spices and heading out to the tomb of Jesus.

Therefore learn from Mary Magdalene and do not let anything hold you back if you know that you have to do something that pertains to serving the Church which is the Body of Christ.
An Angel came down from Heaven, rolled back the stone and sat on it. Matthew 28:2

Plan, Prepare and Perform

Plan by deciding what you need to achieve you goal.

Prepare by buying the spices or whatever else you need to achieve your goal.

Perform by stepping out in faith as you believe that God will meet you at your point of need the way He met Mary Magdalene and the other women.

We can see that God did met them at their point of need because when they arrived at the tomb, they found that The stone had been rolled away. (Mark 16:4)

How had it been rolled away?
There was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord had come down from heaven and rolled back the stone from the door and sat on it. (Matthew 28:2)

Therefore go while believing that God will do for you what you cannot do for yourself. Have faith that He will roll back the obstacle or opposition that does not want you to achieve your goals and sit on it to ensure that it cannot move and begin causing new problems for you.

Know that God will also deal with the problems that you know nothing about because the day after Jesus was buried, the chief priests and Pharisees met with Pilate and requested to have the tomb secured. Pilate granted their wish and they went and Made the tomb secure by setting a seal on the stone and also positioning guards. (Matthew 27:62-66)

Mary Magdalene may not have known that a seal had been placed on the large stone and guards stationed there to ensure no one had access to Jesus. But God knew and He took care of it.

Therefore even if new regulations or laws have been passed on public holidays or in the middle of the night to ensure that you do not succeed, do not fear or be dismayed.

Have confidence that God will even take care of the problems you do not know about the way He took care of the seal on the stone by sending a great earthquake. (Matthew 28:2)

He also solved the problem of the guards for they Shook with fear because of the angel of the Lord whose countenance was like lightening and clothing as white as snow and became like dead men. (Matthew 28:3-4)
