This is because after Prophet Samuel anointed him to be king (1 Samuel 16:2-13), King Saul wanted to kill him and so David fled. Hundreds of men who included his brothers and men from his father's house followed him and he became their leader. (1 Samuel 22:1-2)

David and his men wept with sorrow and then his men begun to speak of stoning him even though his two wives Ahinoam and Abigail had also been captured. (1 Samuel 30:1-6)
David teaches us a great Bible management principle because the Bible tells us that David strengthened himself in the Lord. (1 Samuel 30:6)
The lesson here is that as a leader or manager things can go wrong in your organization and you may find people from within the organization blaming you and trying to punish you for things that happened outside your control.
You may also find that you may not have anyone on your side to encourage you or console you like David since his wives had been abducted.
Therefore learn from David and learn to strengthen yourself or encourage yourself in God so that you can continue leading the people or managing your organization. Developing this habit of encouraging yourself in the Lord is very good because He will never leave you or forsake you and He cannot be taken away from you. Bible Management Principle 2
- Seek the Lord
The next thing that David did after encouraging himself in the Lord was to call Abiathar the priest and inquire from God by asking Him, "Shall I pursue this troop?" (1 Samuel 30:8)- Seek the Lord
God granted David permission to pursue this troop for He replied, "Pursue for you shall surely overtake them and recover everything." (1 Samuel 30:8)
Consequently David recovered all the things that the Amalekites had taken away. (1 Samuel 30:18)
Therefore when you as a manager or leader face a crisis in your organization, you have to learn to inquire from God what you should do next before you make a move to avoid doing things that will cause more harm to your organization and the people you are leading.
This is because if David had pursued the Amalekites without inquiring from the Lord, he could have lost some of his men in the ensuing battle.
So, In all your ways acknowledge the Lord and He shall direct your paths (Proverbs 3:6) the way He directed David's paths to the Egyptian who led them to where the Amalekites were eating, drinking and dancing (1 Samuel 30:11-16) and thus David was able to recover all the losses he and his men had undergone.
