War Room Movie Review

This War Room Movie review is to express my utmost gratitude to the makers of this film because each time I watch it, my Christian faith is strengthened. 

I learned the following by watching the War Room Movie:

1. How To Set Up My War Room 

I learned how to set up a War Room in my home because we are shown how the main character Elizabeth Jordan (acted by Priscilla Shirer) sets up a War Room in her home. I saw that she hang up prayer requests and Bible verses on her walls and used the space to communicate with God. 

I recommend that every Christian should have a space dedicated to prayer because the Bible tells us that we should pray in a secret place. I have also noticed that when you pray in a certain place consistently, the "atmosphere" is that place is changed. This is also seen in the movie where a retired Pastor is immediately able to discern the closet where Elizabeth's Prayer Mentor Miss Clara (acted by Karen Abercombie) had been praying.

Therefore, dedicate a room or a space in a room for prayer and hang Bible verses on the walls to strengthen your faith in God. You can also hang pictures of what you are believing God for.

2. Let God Fight My Battles

I was reminded to let God fight my battles by Elizabeth Jordan who was having issues with her husband Tony Jordan (acted by T. C. Stallings) because instead of responding to him the way the secular culture would expect us to respond, she responded by being nice in person but lethal in her prayers. 

Therefore, instead of responding to people in a secular manner, learn to respond to them in a Christian manner as you present your grievances to God in prayer and let Him deal with the people hurting you. 

3. You Can Praise God Without Music

I realized that you do not have to put on Christian praise music to praise God. You can just praise Him by speaking out His attributes and the good things He has done. 

For example, you can praise God by saying, "I praise You Father God because You are a mighty God who is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than I can ask or imagine."

Therefore do not let the lack of music stop you from praising God. Just open your mouth and proclaim His wonderful characteristics.

For example, you can praise Him by saying, "I praise You Father God because You are Jehovah Rapha, the God who heals."

4. Check Myself Regularly

Miss Clara asked Elizabeth Jordan some very good, introspective questions which I also asked myself as I was watching the movie. One of the questions she asked was about her prayer life.

I also resolved to question myself about my prayer life every time I face a challenge. If my prayer life is good, I will continue trusting God for a good outcome. If my prayer life is lacking in some area, I will step up my efforts.

Therefore, when you are facing a stressful challenge, examine yourself to determine if you are doing your best spiritually and physically to deal with it.

5. Prioritize My Prayer Requests

I was reminded to prioritize my prayer requests and issues. This is because when Miss Clara was beginning to mentor Elizabeth, she asked her for one thing she wanted to change. 

We can also see this in the Bible from blind Bartimaeus who was also a beggar because when Jesus asked Him "What do you me to do unto you?" (Mark 10:51) he asked for only one thing - his sight. Barnabas did not ask for his sight and a job so that he could stop begging.   

Therefore, prioritize your problems and place the most pressing problem at the top of your prayer list. Then attack it boldly in prayer and when you solve it, move on to the next problem on your prayer list. This does not mean that you cannot pray for many things at the same time. It is just a suggestion to focus the power of your prayers on the problem that is causing you the most distress. 

6.  Trust God

I was reminded to trust God and stand on His Word as I wait for Him to answer my prayers. 

Therefore trust God completely as you pray since we are told to Ask in faith without doubting. (James 1:6)

7. Resist The Devil

I was reminded to resist the devil and not to accept his activities in my life like taking away my blessings. 

So, resist the devil and pray against him taking your blessings like your health, family, job, etc. because we know that The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. (John 10:10)

Obey the Scripture which tells us to Submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you (James 4:7) by surrendering your life to God and resisting the devil in prayer.


I therefore highly recommend the War Room movie for all Christians, and even non-Christians. It is especially helpful for persons who are struggling with some problem because it covers the basics of Christian Spiritual Warfare by teaching us how to be a Prayer Warrior. It also shows us the power of prayer very well.
