How to deal with deception is part of our Dealing with the Devices of the Devil Series and it has been adapted from the book We Are Not Ignorant Of His Devices.
If you are, know that you are dealing with deception which is one of the devices of the devil.
We know that deception is from the devil because the Bible tells us that The great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil or Satan, who deceives the whole world (Revelations 12:9)
We can see a good example of this from the Gibeonites who Worked craftily and carried old sacks and old wineskins which were torn and mended. They wore old sandals on their feet and put on old garments. The bread they carried for their provisions was also dry and moldy. They then went to Joshua and said, "Make a covenant with us because we have come from a far country." (Joshua 9:4-6)
After the Israelites had made a covenant with them, they heard that the Gibeonites were their neighbors who lived near them. (Joshua 9:16)
How To Avoid Being Deceived As A Christian
Pray
Sample prayers that you can say include:
Heavenly Father it is written that if we lack wisdom we should ask You and it will be given (James 1:5) and I therefore ask You in the name of Jesus to help me know what I should in this situation.
Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to fill me with Your Holy Spirit so that He can guide me in all truth. (John 16:13)
Put On The Armor Of God
Put on the armor of God because we are told to Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Ephesians 6:11) Click on the link to read How to put on the Armor of God.
Renew Your Mind
The Bible tells us to Be
transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may be able to know what
is that good, acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2)
Therefore if you do not want to be deceived and you want to know God's perfect will for you in a situation, renew your mind.
To renew your mind, meditate on positive Bible verses that nullify
the negative thoughts in your mind. Bible verses that you can meditate on to avoid deception include:
I have acknowledged the Lord and He shall direct my paths. (Adapted Proverbs 3:6)
I have asked God and
He will show me great and mighty things which I did not know. (Adapted
Jeremiah 33:3)
I have submitted to God. I am resisting the devil and he is fleeing from me. (James 4:7)
