Devotional: You Ask and You Do Not Receive

You ask and you do not receive because you ask amiss, so that you may spend it on your pleasures. (James 4:3)

You ask and you miss to get what you have asked for because you ask so that you can spend it on your pleasures.

So if you want to ask and not miss to get what you have asked for, you have to ask so that you can spend it on God's pleasures.

In other words, you have to ask so that you can spend it on what God wants you to spend it on.

This is due to the fact that the Bible says, This is the confidence that we have in Him - if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us and if we know that He hears us whatever we ask, then we know that we have received what we have asked Him. (1 John 5:14-15)

Therefore, if you want to ask and get what you have asked for, you first have to ask to find out God's will for your situation and then ask Him for what is in alignment with His will for you.
You ask and you do not receive because you ask amiss. James 4:3

Prayer
Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to show me Your will for this situation so that I can know how to pray about it effectively. Amen.
