Bible Prosperity Principles: Part 1

Bible Prosperity Principles: Part 1

Learning Bible prosperity principles should not be something you are ashamed of doing because God wants you to prosper.

We know this because of the following reasons:

1. It is written, Beloved, I wish that you may prosper in all things and be in good health just as your soul prospers. (3 John 1:2)

2. It is also written Blessed be God Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant(Psalm 35:27)

3. Jesus also said, "Blessed are the poor in spirit" (Matthew 5:3) and not "Blessed are the poor physically."

So what exactly is prosperity?

Prosperity is flourishing financially, spiritually, physically and in all other ways.

And how does someone prosper?

To prosper, one has to follow Bible prosperity principles like the following:
God told Isaac not to go to Egypt when there was a famine in the land. Isaac obeyed, sowed in the famine and reaped a hundredfold that year. (Genesis 26:12) Therefore obey God's instructions.
Bible Prosperity Principles: Obey God

God told Joshua to speak His Word, meditate on His Word and do His Words so that he could prosper and become successful. (Joshua 1:8) Therefore confess and meditate on prosperity Scriptures each day and ensure that you also obey God's commandments.
Bible Prosperity Principles: Meditate on God's Word

The Proverbs 31 Woman diversified her investments for she was a farmer, real estate investor, manufacturer, and wholesaler. (Proverbs 31) Therefore invest in different types of investments so that you can have multiple sources of income.
Bible Prosperity Principles: Diversify Investments

Be Grateful
When Jesus had only had 5 loaves and 2 fish to feed 5000 men, Jesus took the bread, gave thanks and distributed it. (John 6:11)

So if you are facing lack in any situation, give thanks to God for what you already have instead of complaining to people about what you do not have.
Then, make the best use of what you have as you continue praying to God to fill all your needs.

What should you do with financial prosperity?

Once you prosper financially you have to understand that are God's steward.

This means that you have to take care of whatever God gives you.

We can see that God enriched the Israelites when they were leaving slavery for He told Moses to tell them, "Let every man and woman ask his neighbor for articles of silver and gold." (Exodus 11:2-3)

And God gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians and so they gave them what they requested. (Exodus 12:35-26)

Thus the Israelites left Egypt with lots of gold and silver and begun their journey in the wilderness.

While they were in the wilderness God said to Moses, "Tell the Israelites to bring Me an offering. Everyone is to give willingly from his heart. You shall receive from them gold, silver and bronze ... And let them construct for Me a sanctuary so that I may dwell within them." (Exodus 25:2-8)

The gold and the silver that God had enabled the Israelites to own, was therefore used to build a sanctuary for God and given back to Him as an offering.

Therefore, when you accumulate wealth, view yourself as taking care of it for God since He is the one who gives you the power to get wealth. (Deuteronomy 8:18)

Take good care of the wealth that God has given you by investing wisely like the good and faithful servant (Matthew 25:21) and use a portion of it to advance the purposes of God here on earth. For example, you can plant Churches, feed missionaries and support other people doing God's work.

How to Overcome Opposition: Part 2 Cyrus

How to Overcome Opposition: Part 2 Cyrus

Cyrus is another example of a person from the Bible who God helped overcome opposition because He was doing God's work.

We can see that God promised to precede Cyrus and destroy all opposition for He said:
I will go before you and make the crooked paths straight,
I will break in pieces bronze gates and
I will cut the iron bars. (Isaiah 45:2)

Therefore if you want the mountains standing in your path to be mowed down
and the valleys depressing you to be leveled
and the bronze gates erected to bar your progress broken down
and the iron bars created to curtail your advancement cut,
continue doing the work of God.

How to Overcome Opposition: Part 1 Gideon

How to Overcome Opposition: Part 1 Gideon

Are you facing stiff opposition as you try to do the work of God?

If you are, understand that one big way of having the opposition you are facing removed from your face is to continue working in the midst of the opposition.

We can see this from Gideon who was found by an Angel of the Lord threshing wheat in a winepress. (Judges 6:11)

Wheat was supposed to be threshed on a threshing floor which was a wide open space as seen in the image below from Wikimedia

This was the ideal place for Gideon to accomplish his work of threshing wheat.

However, Gideon had to thresh his wheat in a winepress which was a small constricted place as seen below in the image from Wikimedia

The Bible tells us that Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress so that he could hide it from the Midianites. (Judges 6:11) This was due to the fact that when the Israelites planted crops the Midianites would come together with the Amalekites and other people from the East to destroy their produce and leave them with nothing. (Judges 6:1-5)

Now that he had some wheat to thresh, Gideon could not do it in the ideal place, the wide open threshing floor and so he had to do where he could not be seen.

From looking at the two photos above, you can understand why the Angel of the Lord called Gideon a Mighty man of valor! (Judges 6:12)

Therefore, if you are working in "restricted winepress conditions" and you would really love to work in "unlimited threshing floor conditions", continue serving God faithfully right in the middle of your "restricted winepress conditions".

Do not stop working or start complaining because of all the hard problems that are surrounding you.

Continue serving God and working as you pray and believe that He can transform your circumstances and enable you to work with peace on all sides without a single problem in sight.

We see that God did help Gideon and the Israelites to defeat the Midianites (Judges 7:22) and thus the Israelites were able to thresh their wheat in a threshing floor without being afraid of the Midianites.

This lesson correlates with testimonies you may have heard of ministers who were sick or facing other big problems as they were doing the work of God but when they prayed and continued serving God with their limitations, they received healings and other miraculous solutions to their problems.

Therefore my brothers and sisters, decide that you will continue serving God faithfully in the midst of your "restricted winepress conditions" as you believe Him for "unlimited threshing floor conditions".

1 Kings 17 Bible Study: The Widow of Zarephath and Elijah part 4

1 Kings 17 Bible Study: The Widow of Zarephath and Elijah part 4

The fourth lesson that we can learn from the Widow of Zarephath is that we must obey the word that God speaks to us through His servants.

We see that when Elijah told her to first bake a cake for him from the little flour that she had before she used it to make food for her son or herself, She went and did as per Elijah's instructions. (1 Kings 17:15)

The result of her obedience was that Elijah, her son and herself ate for many days for the bin of flour was not used up and the jar of oil did not run dry. (1 Kings 17:15)

Therefore if a true servant of God tells you to do something, obey him because we are advised to Believe in God and you shall be established. Believe His prophets and you shall prosper. (2 Chronicles 20:20)

1 Kings 17 Bible Study: The Widow of Zarephath and Elijah part 3

1 Kings 17 Bible Study: The Widow of Zarephath and Elijah part 3

Another lesson we can learn from the Widow of Zarephath is that if we are facing a life and death situation, instead of preparing to die, we should prepare to live by giving to God.

We can that when the Widow told Elijah about her problem of having only enough food to prepare one meal for her son and herself before they died, he told her, "Do not be afraid.
First go and make a small cake and bring it to me.
Then, make some for yourself and your son.
For thus says the Lord, 'The bin of flour shall not be used up and the jar of oil shall not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain.' (1 Kings 17:12)

The Bible tells us that She went and did as per Elijah's instructions and she, Elijah and her household ate for many days.
The bin of flour was not used up and the jar of oil did not run dry according to the word of the Lord which He had spoken by Elijah. (1 Kings 17:15)

Thus we can see that instead of eating her last flour and dying, she gave part of it to a servant of God and lived.

Likewise, if you are in a similar life and death situation, do not eat your last dollar and prepare to die.

Instead of preparing to die by spending all your last coins on yourself, prepare to live by heeding the instructions that Elijah gave the Widow of Zarephath:
1. Do not be afraid
Do not be afraid because God knows your case.

2. Take a small cake to a servant of God
Take a small portion of your last dollar and give it to someone you see serving God. If you do not know which servant of God to give to, just ask God.

After giving pray and ask God to bless your seed Give back to you a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and overflowing (Luke 6:38) the way He did for the poor widow for her Bin of flour was not used up and the jar of oil did not run dry. (1 Kings 17:15)

1 Kings 17 Bible Study: The Widow of Zarephath and Elijah part 2

1 Kings 17 Bible Study: The Widow of Zarephath and Elijah part 2

The second lesson we can learn from the Widow of Zarephath is that God can do much good with what may appear as good-for-nothing.

We see this from the fact that the Widow had just been left with handful of flour in a bin and a little oil in a jar which she was planning to use to prepare a meal for her son and herself so that they could eat and die, (1 Kings 17:12) but God had other plans for that little flour and oil.

God had planned for that little flour and oil to feed His prophet Elijah because He sent him to the Widow to be fed (1 Kings 17:9) and the food that he ate was prepared from that flour and oil.

Therefore, even if your resources have dwindled up to the extent of almost drying up and you think the little that is left cannot do any good, understand that God knows the state of your affairs and He may have planned to use it for something very good.

So if your physical, mental, emotional and financial resources are down and you think that death is the only option you have, do not give up.

Do not give up because you do not know how God can turn around your situation by using the little flour in your bin or the little money in your account or the little energy in your body.

God tells us, "My thoughts are not your thoughts, and My ways are not your ways. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9)

If your thoughts are therefore telling you that it is over because you cannot see a way out of your stressful situation, know and believe that God's thoughts about your situation may be totally different from yours and His ways or methods of solving your problem may be totally different from what your human mind tells you.

So once again, do not give up and wait for death or commit suicide.

Give the situation up to God and wait for Him to turn it around.

1 Kings 17 Bible Study: The Widow of Zarephath and Elijah part 1

1 Kings 17 Bible Study: The Widow of Zarephath and Elijah part 1

The widow of Zarephath teaches us several lessons.

One of these is that God can use the people you least expect to bless you and even save your life.

We see this from the fact that there was a drought in the land and the Brook Cherith from which Elijah had been drinking dried up.

God then told him, "Go to Zarephath because I have commanded a widow who lives there to provide for you.(1 Kings 17:9)

When Elijah arrived at Zarephath, he found a widow gathering sticks at the gate of the city. (1 Kings 17:10)

He asked her for water and bread and her response was that she just had handful of flour in a bin and a little oil in a jar which she was going to use to prepare a meal for her son and herself so that they could eat it and die. (1 Kings 17:12)

Her response may have surprised a person who did not know the power of God because they would have expected God to send Elijah to a rich widow with so much food that she was even taking milk and honey baths.

However, understand that God can use anyone and even anything to solve your problems because prior to being sent to the widow He was using ravens to bring Elijah bread and meat twice a day. (1 Kings 17:6)

So if God sends you somewhere to get your problems solved, and on arrival you look around and wonder how your (food, money, etc) problems can be solved by people who cannot even solve their own (food, money, etc) problems, understand that they are not your solution.

Know that God is the solution to your problems and that He will work through them to solve your problems.

Then, combine your knowing with believing that God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we can ever ask of think (Ephesians 3:20) and wait for Him.

We know that God did do exceedingly above what this widow thought because that Bin of flour was not used up and the jar of oil did not dry up according to God's word which He spoke through Elijah (1 Kings 17:16)  even though she used it to feed Elijah, her son and herself.

God Can Use Unbelievers part 2: King Necho

Pharaoh Necho the king of Egypt, came to the River Euphrates to fight Carchemish in obedience to God's instructions, but King Josiah of Judah went to fight him.

However Necho sent messengers to Josiah telling him, "I have nothing to do with you since I have not come to fight you. I have come to fight other people for God has commanded me to hurry.

So stop opposing God Who is with me lest He destroy you.

However, King Josiah would not listen to the words of King Necho which had come from God

Instead he disguised himself and went to the Valley of Megiddo to fight. There he was shot by archers and taken back to Jerusalem where he died."  (2 Chronicles 35:20-24)

This passage from the Bible shows us that God can use unbelievers like Pharaoh Necho to achieve his purposes since God had sent him to fight Carchemish.

It also teaches that even if we have done many good things for God, we have to consult Him if someone tells us that our current project is opposing God's work.

We can see that Josiah had done many things for God for he had:
1. Made a covenant before the Lord to follow Him and keep His commandments (2 Kings 23:3)

2. King Josiah had commanded Hilkiah the high priest and other priests to remove from the temple all the things that had been made for Baal, Asherah and all the host of heaven and he burned them outside Jerusalem. (2 Kings 23:4)

3. King Josiah removed the idolatrous priests who had been ordained by previous kings of Judah to burn incense to Baal, to the sun, the moon, the constellations and all the host of heaven in the cities of Judah and around Jerusalem. (2 Kings 23:5)

4. King Josiah removed the wooden image from the house of the Lord and burned it at the Brook Kidron, ground it into ashes and threw them away. (2 Kings 23:6)

5. King Josiah tore down the ritual booths that were in the house of the Lord and that belonged to perverted persons where women wove hangings for the wooden image. (2 Kings 23:7)

6. King Josiah removed all the idolatrous priests from the cities of Judah and defiled the high places from from Geba to Beersheba where they burned incense. He also broke down the high places which were at the gates. (2 Kings 23:8)

7. King Josiah defiled Topheth which was in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom so that no father would make his son or daughter to  pass through the fire to Molech. (2 Kings 23:10)

8. King Josiah removed the horses that previous kings of Judah had dedicated to the sun and he burned the chariots of the sun. (2 Kings 23:11)

9. King Josiah broke and pulverized the altars which were on the roof, the upper chamber of Ahaz which previous kings of Judah had made and the altars that Manasseh had made inside the courts of the house of the Lord. (2 Kings 23:12)

10. King Josiah defiled the high places which were to the east of Jerusalem and to the south of the Mount of Corruption which King Solomon had built for the false gods Ashtoreth, Chemosh and Milcom. He broke the sacred pillars and cut down the wooden images. (2 Kings 23:13-14)

11. King Josiah broke down and burned the altar and high place which Jeroboam had made. (2 Kings 23:15)

12. King Josiah removed all the shrines that were in the high places in the cities of Samaria that previous kings of Israel had built to make God angry and executed their priests. (2 Kings 23:19-20)

13. King Josiah commanded the people to keep the Passover as it is written in the Book of the Covenant. (2 Kings 23:21)

14. King Josiah put away all persons who consulted mediums and spiritists, household gods and idols according to the words of the book that had been found in the house of the Lord. (2 Kings 23:24)

The Bible describes King Josiah as follows:
Before King Josiah there was no king like him who turned to the Lord with all his heart, soul and might according to the entire Law of Moses and after him, there was no king like him. (2 Kings 23:25)

However after doing all these good things for God, King Josiah died simply because he opposed the purposes of God by not listening to Pharaoh Necho.

Therefore even if you have been in active ministry for 40 years and an unbeliever that you have taken a stand against, tells you to stop opposing the work of God, take some to pray and seek the Lord to find out if they are really doing the work of God or of a god.

If the unbeliever is doing the work of God, stop opposing them and let them do what God has told them to do because by continuing to fight them, you will be fighting God and you know you can never win that battle.

How to fight discouragement with Bible verses

God Can Use Unbelievers part 1: Cyrus

Can God use unbelievers

Have you been wondering if God can use unbelievers?

If you have, the answer is Yes, God can bless and use unbelievers to achieve His purposes.

We see an example of this with Cyrus because even though he did not know the God of Israel:
1. God strengthened Cyrus so that he could conquer nations and overcome opposition
Thus says the Lord God to His Cyrus,
whose right hand I have held -
to subdue nations before him and
to disarm kings,
to open before him the double doors,
and ensure gates will not be shut. (Isaiah 45:1)

2. God promised to precede Cyrus and destroy all opposition that Cyrus would face:
'I will go before you and make the crooked paths straight,
I will break in pieces bronze gates and
I will cut the iron bars. (Isaiah 45:2)

3. God promised to enrich Cyrus:
I will give you treasures in dark places and
I will give you hidden riches in secret places (Isaiah 45:3)

God would do all of this for Cyrus for the sake of Israel and also so that Cyrus and all the people in the world would know that He was the God of Israel:

So that you may know that I, the Lord, who calls you by your name am the God of Israel.

For the sake of Jacob My servant and Israel my chosen people,
I have called you by your name,
I have named you even though you have not known Me.

I am the Lord and there is no other,
There is no god besides Me.

I will prepare you for battle, even though you have not known Me,
so that people may known that from the rising of the sun in the East to its setting in the West there is no other God besides Me.(Isaiah 45:3-6)

Therefore do not be surprised when you see a non-believer being guided, strengthened, blessed and used by God because you do not know the purposes of God.

How to fight discouragement with Bible verses

Opportunity Comes With Opposition

If an opportunity to do something great has arisen in your life, do not be surprised if great opposition also arises.

We see this when Paul says, "A great and effective door has opened to me and there are many enemies." (1 Corinthians 16:9)

So, Beloved do not think it strange that you are going through this fiery trial. (1 Peter 4:12)

The Caleb Difference Part 3

The Caleb difference that made him have a giant mentality rather than a grasshopper mentality is also seen in David when he faced the challenge of fighting a giant named Goliath.

We see this when King Saul told him, "You are not able to fight Goliath because you are just a youth and he has been a fighter from his youth." (1 Samuel 17:33)

However, since David had a giant mentality he replied and told the King, "I have killed both lion and bear and this Philistine will be like one of them.(1 Samuel 17:36)

Therefore cultivate your giant mentality by  speaking positive confessions about yourself that are in alignment with what the Word of God says about you because Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. (Romans 10:17)

Another great thing we can learn from David is that his confidence in his ability to fight Goliath the giant was combined with having confidence in God's ability to help him for he said, "The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.(1 Samuel 17:37)

Therefore emulate him and strengthen your giant mentality by combining faith in your own capabilities to deal with the challenge you are facing with faith in God's ability to help you deal with it effectively and do for you what you cannot do for yourself.

We see God's help in action because when David Took a stone, slung it and struck Goliath on his forehead, the stone sank into Goliath's forehead and he fell on his face. (1 Samuel 17:49) The fact that David's stone sank into Goliath's head even though he was wearing a bronze helmet (1 Samuel 17:5) tells us that the Lord's Arm (Numbers 11:23) was involved in directing and powering the stone that David threw.

Another thing we can learn from David to help us have a winning giant mentality, is to recall our past victories like he did when he said, "The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.(1 Samuel 17:37)

Therefore, when you are facing a gigantic problem, remind yourself of all the other gigantic problems you have faced in your past and say and believe that, "The Lord who delivered me from those problems last year, He will deliver me from these problems today".

If these are the first gigantic problems you are facing, say and believe that, "The Lord who delivered David from the lion and bear and Goliath, He will deliver me from these gigantic problems today" because it is still the same God that we are serving.

Saying with your mouth as you believe in your heart that the God who helped you yesterday is still able to help you today will therefore enable you to face today and all your tomorrows with confidence because you know that you the combination of God + you is able to take on any  challenges that life may bring.

This saying and believing in God's ability + your ability will also stop you from  demeaning yourself when you are facing gigantic problems because if the Israelites had said and believed that "The Lord who delivered us from the hand of Pharaoh and his army, He will deliver us from the hand of these giants in our Promised Land"  chances are they would not have seen themselves as grasshoppers facing giants and refused to fight. (Numbers 14)
