Steps to Overcome Addiction

Steps to Overcome Addiction

If you are trying to break free from addiction to illicit drugs, nicotine, alcohol, prescription medications, pornography, gambling, video games, internet surfing, watching TV, shopping, stealing, food, sugar, working, exercising or any other addiction, you have to take the following spiritual steps:

Get Saved
Begin your battle against addiction by getting saved so that you can put on the spiritual helmet of salvation. All you need to put on this helmet of salvation is to say with your mouth that "Jesus Christ is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead when He died for our sins and you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

Pray
The next thing you have to do is to Pray without ceasing. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

As you pray, use Bible verses since The sword of the spirit is the word of God. (Ephesians 6:17)  Scriptures that you can use to pray for yourself include the following: Direct my steps by Your word O God and do not let sin dominate me and my life. (Psalm 119:133)

Have Faith
As you pray ensure that you have faith that God can help you overcome the addiction. Since Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1) pray while seeing yourself with your mind's eye delivered from the addiction.

Christian Affirmations to Clean a Dirty Mouth

Christian Affirmations to Clean a Dirty Mouth

To clean a dirty mouth you have to speak the Word of God because it is the sword of the Spirit that we are to wield to fight our spiritual battles. Even if you are facing mind boggling challenges, desist from cursing and swearing and do not utter words of death, defeat and destruction as you will be agreeing with the enemy who is trying to destroy you. Instead, confess positive Christian affirmations such as:
1. The mouth of the righteous is a well of life. (Proverbs 10:11)
2. The tongue of the wise person promotes health. (Proverbs 12:18)

3. A person shall eat well by the fruit of their mouth. (Proverbs 13:2)

4. My words impart grace to the hearers. (Adapted Ephesians 4:29)

5. Only good words which are necessary for edification come out of my mouth. (Adapted Ephesians 4:29)

Christian Spiritual Warfare to Clean a Dirty Mouth 1

Regardless of whether you are always cursing or swearing and using the Lord’s name in vain or you are prone to lying or using profanities, obscenities or abusive language, understand that you have to combine spiritual, mental, verbal and physical interventions to form your own holistic deliverance ministry to fight your foul mouth and learn how to stop swearing.
The first spiritual intervention is to pray and ask God to help you clean your dirty mouth.

As you pray, use Scriptures since Bible verses are the foundation of any deliverance ministry and Christian spiritual warfare because the Word of God is the Sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17) that God has given us to fight with.
Scriptures that you can use as personal deliverance prayers include:
1. Father God I ask You in the name of Jesus to help me so that no corrupt word will come out of my mouth. (Adapted Ephesians 4:29)

2. Father God I ask You in the name of Jesus to help me so that my speech will always be graceful and so that I may know how I ought to answer everyone. (Adapted Colossians 4:6)
